I have an old Selmer mouthpiece with the Selmer logo just above the tenon and the words Table S with no oval or diamond on the table. Does anyone know anything about the age and quality of this model.

My first set of Selmers came with a Table A mouthpiece stamped on the table without the oval - I've still got it and play it from time to time, but it is a very close facing. I presume they're from the late '40s-early -'50s as the Bb is N69xx and the CT A is P10xx.

These are excellent mouthpieces, but not usually very good with the stock facing. They are a bit older than the oval stamp 50's-60's era, probably made from the 30's to 50's. There are some slight variations of this vintage that are older, but are exceptionally rare.
Generally, these have a much deeper lower baffle and have a nice combination of "lows" in the sound and the ring that is associated with many older selmers. They are very unique sounding mouthpieces and aren't being replicated in modern mouthpieces.
These are some of the best selmers to have refaced, since they are quality material and a quality\unique design internally. I know Brad Behn has extensive experience with all vintages of Selmer mouthpieces and could work yours into an excellent player. He's refaced several of these table stamp Selmers for me and they are fantastic!

I've thought of getting mine refaced to either Vandoren A1 or 5RV Lyre spec. It's a very narrow mouthpiece (the rails are much closer compared to standard and C85) and German reeds are just the right width for it.

The collection I have (about a dozen or so) all have pretty close tip openings and a standard medium long facing (35-37 length). The refacing process can involve accommodations for whichever reeds you want to use.
Since you're from the UK Chris, the 1.08-1.10 range might feel more comfortable given that there is a general preference for more open tips in the UK.
