Hey all!
I discovered that I really like the Harrison lig for my bass clarinet, but alack and alas, they are no longer made. I went searching on the internet and discovered a site at www.jeanne-inc.com Supposedly this place has Harrison ligatures, but when I called the 800 number, nothing answers it. Has anybody ordered from this site? Is there a better place to get my lig? I know that somebody's got to have a ligature they don't use, it's just a matter of finding it. Thanks in advance!

Harrisons are awesome. If you run into any extra Bb ones while on your quest, let me know. *smiles*
For those of you wondering, it looks a good deal like a luyben, only in metal (either gold or silver plated). The part that holds the reed is "x" shaped and pretty delicate.

I use a Harrison lig and love it. It touches the reed only on four corners. One word of caution though, don't tighten it too much as it can break easily. But then you shouldn't tighten any lig more than just enough to hold the reed in place, allowing the reed more freedom to vibrate. Mine broke and I took it to a lady down the street who makes custom jewery for a hobby and she did a fantastic repair on it. Some times you can find one on eBay.

I've seen some of these in a drawer at a friend's music store here in town. I know I saw Bass Clarinet Harrison and also know for sure there are some Bbs. I'll check and see if they're still there and how much they are. Maybe I can get a good deal on them.

You're going to hate this. I went down to my friend's music store and looked through the drawers where he keeps the ligatures (I buy lots of stuff and have known him for years and years--I get the run of the place) and found NO Harrison ligatures. Went into the back stockroom and through all the "old stock" items and again NO Harrison ligatures. So I asked on of the salesmen (my friend was out of the store) what happened to all the old ligatures and mouthpieces that were in the drawers and in the stock room and he said, "Well, we redid all our stock and gathered a bunch of those old items that hadn't sold for more than 10 years up and shipped them off to other stores or threw them away." He didn't know what happened to the Harrisons---he said if they were in good shape they probably went to other stores (where these other stores are I don't know).
Sorry. I wish I could help. Have you ever tried Rovners? They're what all the clarinet teachers are recommending now. They're also cheaper than the Harrisons. Look on woodwind and brasswind's website (www.wwandbw.com) for prices, etc.

I've got a new Harrison Bass clarinet ligature that I would sell. I have to look up my invoice to price the item. This is one of Harrison's gold models. It wasn't inexpensive.

Thanks for all the responses so far. They are helpful and maddening at the same time. I use a Rovner ligature right now, but there are days when my tone is awful and the easiest and best fix is to use a Harrison. My instructor recommended a Bonade as a close substitute. Does that sound right?
