Does anyone know why Vandoren stopped manufacturing/selling the silver-plated cap with the Optimum Ligature? Also, does anyone know where I can buy a brand-new Optimum Ligature and silver-plated cap together? I do not want to purchase one from eBay, as I still do not trust eBay after all these years. I have had some bad transactions with sellers on eBay, and I do not want to take a chance with anything related to my clarinet or clarinet accessories. If anyone can help me, I will be very grateful.

Buy the lomax classic ligature. It has a powerful sound yet while it's velvety and warm at the same time. I switched from the optimum to that and I couldn't agree more how much distinctiveness i have in my sound.

Your reply did not at all relate to my question. I did not even mention tone at all. I was asking why the Optimum Ligature no longer comes with the silver-plated cap and where I can get a silver-plated cap like when I first purchased the Optimum Ligature.

Cost.
And because a shiny mouthpiece cap doesn't affect the clarinet tone.
Though they do have a glorious "ring" when dropped on stage in the middle of a concert.
