Hello! My name is Alexander May and I am studying with Jeff Brooks and Frank Kowalsky. I have been playing since 6th grade and will be auditioning for the ICA competition and Interlochen. Attached is a recording of Solo de Concours by Mouquet and the first movement of the Poulenc clarinet sonata. I have only been playing the Mouquet since the beginning of February so do tell me what you think and if I have a chance of making it into the high school INterlochen camp.
Thank you. You can be firm but not too harsh.

Thank you for the in depth criticism. Do you think this will get into the high school Interlochen camp?

I'm 17 and I did not sound as good you when I was 14, even now, you may be my arch rival now haha. The Moquet piece may be fine.

I say work more on poulenc as this is a more common audition repertoire and the judges may be more critical of it.

You should include Cappricio Espagnol if you have an A clarinet

It's more common in professional auditions and it's a exhilarating orchestral repertoire.

Yes, I do have an A clarinet and love Cappricio but it wasn't needed for the audition. In May of last year, I used Cappricio for a youth orchestra audition.....and won

Neat clarinet and harp arrangement of Satie sonatino (recorded by Stoltzman). Will demonstrate some of your ability.

So at Interlochen, are you only going to be educated in clarinet studies, or are are you also going to be taught in science, english, math, etc
