Error in Mozart Clarinet Quintet, Menuetto, bar 44, both score and clarinet part

My husband and I discovered a likely error at this bar in the 3rd movement, the Menuetto, in both the score and the part of even the Barenreiter edition, which the clarinet has a broken arpeggio, the E is most likely should be an F, as maj7th chords were extremely rarely, if ever, used by Mozart.

Thought I'd mention this...

My Henle edition has a Dmin arpeggio: Bar 44. ADFADF

I'm pretty sure though, they give note that the triplet entrance can be a EF duplet if you want to keep the direction of the line consistent.

I'm a little confused. First, do you mean bar 44 of Trio 2 (there is no bar 44 in the Menuetto itself and the clarinet doesn't play in Trio 1)?

I'm looking at my copy of the Bärenreiter edition and the arpeggio at that bar is d (concert b) minor. Both the Breitkopf and Eulenberg scores (available on IMSLP - my Bärenreiter set didn't come with a score) agree on d(b) minor. The strings play a b minor triad (outlined by 1st violin) in measure 44. The next bar has an E (and a G), but these fit with the concert C-sharp diminished (actually a concert A7 without the root) harmony in beat 2 of the string parts.

Are TJTG and I misunderstanding what you're pointing to?

Karl

I'm confused by this, bar 44 in Trio II is a written D minor arpeggio. There are no Es here. Please clarify
