Never played this before but.....at the meno mosso Tranquillo 12 measures before Rehearsal T W, What is he thinking? 12 measures of 32nd notes tongued in groups of 4. The basoonist and I are going crazy. Seems like a good violin part, but for single and double reed instruments? Seriously, from anyone familiar with the piece, what suggestions do you have? So far the bassonist has settled on 16ths and I have experimented with a shivering sound (sort of like shaking an accordian in the old days) and also tried the 16'ths. Conductor says he would be happy with 16ths. So far, in 2 rehearsals, I have plodded through the section and prepared for my A clarinet solo at the Adagio down the road. We are a much better than average community orchestra with many semi-pros in our number.
