 How Old Is My Clarinet
Author: Fred Boreale

Greetings all,
I have an S.M.L. Clarinet, It is stamped on the barrel, the bell and on both of the joints it says Vals Below that in a banner it says Made by S.M.L. Paris France, Serial # on both joints as best I can make out(stamping is very light) is 8506? it is wood, in great condition, Keys are nice and shinny w/no wear at all, I think they are made out of plated silver? Horn plays great.I searched once before online but all I came up with is very old threads and posts from about 4 years ago and nothing about mentioning a year. Just thinking maybe the more knowledgeable people here might know more

I have had it for 20+years, it had been lost in a closet all this time, I Forgot I even had it. Any idea how old it could be, How much it could be worth, Could it be a good horn,I have no idea of selling it. would just like to know. From the looks of it and the way it plays. the tech at my local music store played it said it was closer to an advance model.Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You
Fred
