I think a little bit of tip shaving is possible but I don't think you can reshape the vamp. There's no law that says you can't try though. If you've got one which you can't play anyway I don't see any harm in doing a little experimentation. Announce your results to the community!

I have shaved several Legeres, both soprano and bass, with a scalpel blade, with good results. This has included scraping the vamp and clipping the tip.

You can free up legere reeds by putting the tip under the hot water tap for a second or two. (turn on water).... I suspect Legere recommends not adjusting these reeds as this might lead to you injesting some of the plastic particles or dust after scraping. So wash the reed off thoroughly after scraping or sanding.

The Reed Wizard is a simple but ingenious tool for profiling reeds and works wonders for cane. Synthetic reeds--Forestone & Legere have different contours due to the material used and the RW is not designed to accomodate these. My attempts using my RW with Legere and Forestone have not been effective nor successful. For me, alterations--if even necessary with Forestones--are best done with a reed cliper and a knife the "old fashioned way".

I have worked successfully on Fibrecells with a Reed Wizard. Legeres are thinner I think and you will just have to experiment.
