I have a metal E-flat clarinet, which was made by the Cundy-Bettoney Co. , Boston, MA. It has the serial no. A4951 and a "US" stamp on both the bell and the case. It was given to me as a graduation gift in 1981. I am trying to determine its date of manufacture. I have been told that it may date back to just before the start of WWII, but I would like to know more.

If this list is to be believed then your clarinet was made shortly after the war in 1948-1949.
