I have a Paul Dupre Superior Silver Clarinet. It has k4080 stamped on the neck. My aunt played it in school and passed it to me. Could anyone provide some info on age, value? thank you

Paul Dupre was most likely a stencil brand (i.e. made by a different manufacturer) and your clarinet was probably made prior to the 1940's. Unfortunately nearly all metal clarinets were student-level models and as a result have very little value. Unless your clarinet is in very good condition or has some rare features it is probably worth less than $100.

This is a great site for metal clarinet information. A Paul Dupre is listed on it.

Thank you for the reply. I did check the site and think my clarinetis possibly worth $50.00. Pretty sure it has to be student model, both my aunt and I played it in school. Thanks for the help. Diane

///Unfortunately nearly all metal clarinets were student-level models and as a result have very little value.///

This really isn't a correct statement. As a collector, I have many metal clarinets and some of the pro horns are Cundy-Bettoney, C.G. Conn (Wonder DW, 1895), Selmer (which I'm currently restoring a gold plated Bb Full Boehm clarinet, Manufacture date Nov. 1930), several H.N. White Silver Kings, and an H.N. White MicroSonic, etc.

For some good links to Silver Clarinets I'd recommend:

and there are more. :)

Buffet Bb R13
Evette-Schaeffer Bb
Auguste Buffet Bb Enhanced Boehm (circa 1920's)
Selmer Silver Bb Full Boehm (Nov 1930)
C.G. Conn Metal HP Bb Double Wall (1895)
Silva-Bet Silver Enhanced Boehm Bb (1930)
