Does anybody know where I can find a transcription of Benny Goodman's solo in Sing Sing Sing. My highschool jazz band is playing it, and I've tried transcribing it myself, but its to hard.

I think the "Music Minus One" set has this with a CD, so you could also practice with your stereo.

I thought Benny was good but you ain't heard "Sing, Sing, Sing" till you hear E. Daniels do it.

Good luck.

well what do you know, some body finally let out the news. eddie danielsis is so much better than goodman and any one else for that matter that it isn't even close. if you want to hear something good listen to his c.d. the five seasons. its a combination of jazz and clasucal. it answers all of these inane questions about set ups for jazz/classical ect.that you constantly have on your pages.

Biting my lip till it bleeds on this one, however, I've never bit into an apple yet that tasted like an orange...nuff said. <:-(

Warner Brothers has a book of big band transcriptions by Jeff Hest entitled "Original Big Band Sounds". These are transcribed exactly, including solos. There are part books for each instrument, as well as the score. Sing, Sing, Sing in both part I and II is included. I am not sure if an individual part for Sing, Sing,Sing is available. The parts are reasonable at about $8 the last I knew. I think the clarinet part is in the Bari book. I know you can order it from pepper music.

My band uses the book Ed is talking about. I butcher that solo fairly regularly. The Part I one is perfect but the one in Part II is a little too long, I usually just improv that one. There's a lot of other good stuff in that book too.

BG' s Sing Sing Sing solo is in one of the Goodman transcription books which have been out for about 50 years so you should find one somewhere! They certainly appear regularly on Ebay.
