When changing tenon corks using original DAP Weldwood contact cement how long after actually putting the new cork on should you wait until fitting.

I am not familiar with that specific brand but in general the cork can be fitted almost immediately after the glue has dried (5-10 mins) and as soon as sanded fitted to the socket.
I think it actually helps the bond if this is done and the tenon left in the socket for a time (1/2 - 2 hours should be OK) just make sure it is greased with a good cork grease well rubbed in before fitting.

Hi All,
I am new to the BB board, This is my first post.
I just replaced all 3 tenon corks Plus mouthpiece cork using the same contact cement you are using, When both pieces are dry to the touch(not sticky) it is dry, Just be careful when fitting cork to the tenon,when you put the cork down make sure it is lined up correctly when you put it down it will stick instantly.It was not hard at all I never did it before and it came out great, I left My cork a little thick so I could sand it down to get a better fit, I left the middle joint tighter then the others so the two pieces did not move around. If you have any questions on how to do it let me know.

I also long taper the cork end before applying glue so you end up with a nice, overlapping splice fit. Then wrap rubber bands or string around to hold it in place and give it about 30 minutes to set because even though it will stick in 5 minutes, the glue is still semi soft and will move as you shape it.
Then trim/sand to fit the socket exactly. Also round/taper slightly the tenon entering edge so it doesn't catch on the socket edge. You might do this too before applying the glue.

I use DAP all the time.
Make sure the tenon is clean before putting contact cement on. I wipe it off with a bit of contact cement solvent, to make sure any old cork grease, oil, etc. is off of there before regluing.
As stated, you can use it almost immediately.
When you can dry fit it about 1/2 way its sanded enough. Then apply some cork grease and off you go. You want them a bit tight - the cork will compress over time.

Apply thin layer to both cork and tenon. Let glue dry. Assemble. You can sand right after the cork is put on.
