I thought it would be a good idea to explain a little about me for those of you who have been helping me with my teaching.
many of you will frown upon this.......
I am not a formally educated teacher. I dont even know how I got hired. What I know is only from my own playing experience and my own private lessons and minimal teaching on my own.
I took up the clarinet when I was 10. I am now 46. I went to a non music college but was a music major for 1 year until I dropped out. I quit playing for 12 years.
Upon return I went ahead with full force and regretted messing up in college. Ive been playing ever since - that was about 15 years ago. have been in private lessons myself for 5 years.
I have always always always wanted to be a private clarinet teacher. I know enough to teach beginners and intermediates.
I was shocked when I got hired - but my dream of being a clarinet teacher came true. My big dream though is having my own studio. i think im headed in the right direction.
thank you everyone for helping me along in my first few months of being a teacher.
sorry to those who think i shouldnt be teaching becuz i lack formal education.

Goodness, janlynn, if you have the teaching skills and enthusiam who cares where you got them? You are living your dream and your students will be the beneficaries. Plus the fact that you are willing to ask good questions and get help with what you are doing....I think that adds up a lot. Go for it, and keep asking questions.
