After lots of research and reading discussions about jazz clarinets, I have a new Leblanc LL on approval from my local music store. I've used Moennig tuning barrels for years with all my clarinets and have tried the one I currently use on my Opus on the LL. Of course, the bore is a different size (the LL has a .582, the Opus a .575), so the sound is diminished somewhat--although typical of the Moennig--much more even and quite nice. Still, I feel I won't be getting the full benefit of the LL's larger bore with my Opus Moennig barrel. The tone on the LL with its stock barrel is more "scattered" than with the Moennig. So, are there Moennig barrels out there for the larger bore clarinets, or do I need to contact someone like Clark Fobes (I have one of his mouthpieces) and ask them to make one?

Both Howarth and Peter Eaton in the U.K. make large-bore clarinets, perhaps they could provide you with barrels?

I use an acubore "Eddie Daniels Classic" on my LL. It opened up the sound a good bit over the stock barrel.

As far as I know a feature of design of some modern "polycylindrical" bores is that there is an intentional narrowing of the bore at the barrell.
I could widen your barrell bore in a minute or two on my metal lathe, using a special collet I made to hold barrels in a chuck, but you are too far away.

If I had Gordon open the Moennig I'm using up, then my poor Opus would suffer. The Eddie Daniels barrel is an excellent idea. They're also not as expensive as some of the custom jobs. I've used the E.D. barrels before and I agree--they really open up the sound and are great for playing outdoors, etc because of the stability of the materials over wood.
Good suggestion. I also emailed Clark Fobes and he does have some that would work. So, I might go the cheaper route first and then, since I have a Fobes mouthpiece, try the Fobes.

Also, my Eddie Daniels Classic Acubore is the "Moenig Power Sound" model. In addition to the more open sound it also plays better in tune than the stock barrel which my repairman measured at 66 mm. This is too long for my horn causing it to play flat. My acubore is 64 mm.
