 Help identifying e11 clarinet
Author: cyanbb

I am getting suspicious that this clarinet i bought is not genuine. At the first joint there is the buffet crampon logo stamp but it does not say e11 France at the bottom of the logo. The serial is B219591 and it says made in France, isn't it suppose to say made in Germany since it doesn't have e11 France at the bottom of the logo?

thanks,

Was this sold to you as a new clarinet or is it used? Pictures would be helpful. For what it's worth most of the counterfeit Buffet clarinets I've seen have been made from plastic or hard rubber so chances are you do in fact have one of the half dozen or so versions of the E11 that are currently being sold by Buffet.

Would you be willing to tell us where you bought this (i.e., local music store, eBay, pawn shop, local private seller) and how much you paid? Also, what originally led you to believe this is an E11?

Best regards,
jnk

I got it on ebay. I paid $400. It was online so i could not confirm fully if it was genuine but looks good until i received it. The serial marking looks a little off and it feels like hard plastic.

It looks like the E11 hanging in my local shop here. I was told it was the German E11 and that only the french ones have France as part of the stamp.

If you look at the picture, it says its made in France by serial number.

I've only seen letters in Buffet serial numbers on older models (early 1900s), but I don't know if intermediate models are numbered differently. Is it possible that the word "France" used to be there under the E11 marking and rubbed off?
