Hi all:
I want to pick up some reeds today and noticed a box of V12's next to the usual VanDoren blue box reeds I get.
I have an R13 and play a 5RV Lyre with a blue box number 3.
Does anyone use the V12s?
Any opinions on these reeds?
Love to hear some thoughts.
Best to you all.

Not too many people, only about 75% of the professional clarinet playing world.

Wow.
Live and learn.
I must try a box. Do you go for the same strength in terms of the number? A 3 on one is a 3 on the other?

I also play 5RV lyre mtp. and Buffet clarinet. All the time I played Blue Box Vandoren reeds N3. V12 were good but N3 were easy and N3.5 were hard to me. From one box i can play one or two reeds.
I think you need to try Australia Vintage and Rico reserve reeds. They are really good and for my opinion better than Vandoren.
From Vandoren box maximum 4-5 reeds will good for you and every reed can live not more than one month. From Vintage and reserve boxes9 from 10 reeds are good to me, also all vintage reeds are hand-finished and has long life period. My first Vintage reed works more than 5 monthes, I use this reed two or three times a week when I need to play a lot of time.

After sanding the raised grain down for about 3 or 4 days, the V12s work great and I get ten good reeds per box. Any variation in strength can be adjusted with sanding also (silicon carbide paper). Don't expect reeds to work from the box without some attention to them.
