Does anyone have any information about Revere (French) clarinets? If the number on the clarinet begins with an A ie A12085 does this mean it is a clarinet in the key of A? On the other hand the French seem to use sol fa for e.g. guitar chords so don't know how they denote C, Eb and A clarinets.
Second clarinet has the number S133A (now sold) was that a Selmer Clarinet in A?

'Revere' was a tradename used for french stencils imported to the USA. I don't believe there's information as to who made the horns - perhaps several different makers. Certainly someone will suggest Malerne. There is no list of Revere serial numbers as far as I know; so there is no way to know if the serial number contains info about the pitch, model etc. Measure the instrument; a Bflat horn will be around 59.3 cms. An A horn will be longer. Be aware that a High Pitch clarinet will be shorter (and unusable for modern ensemble playing). Or, better, use a tuner set to 440Hz (since these were horns intended for the USA).
S133A could be anything. I never heard that Selmer added a letter to indicate pitch and I never saw such a horn. No list of Selmer numbers I know of shows such a number. Maybe someone else here will know. Anyway, if it didn't have the Selmer wreath logos on it, it wasn't a Selmer S-series..

You mention a Bb is usually 59.3 cm is that measurement including a mouthpiece, or without mouthpiece and measuring up to the end of the barrel to the end of the bell?

The 59.3 cm (about 23.5 inches) figure for a Bb clarinet does not include the mouthpiece. Assuming that my A clarinet is "typical", it's about 25 inches, or about 63.5 cm, again not including the mouthpiece.

I've got a set of Series 9* clarinets where the barrels, top joints and bells are marked with A and Bb.
10G barrels are also marked A and B to denote the pitch instrument they're made for.
