Yamaha 250

I have a student playing a Yamaha 250. It says made in Indonesia? huh?

That's right - Yamaha have factories in Indonesia and also China where their student level instruments are now being produced.

You should be more concerned if it says "Made in Japan" or nothing at all.

Just a point - the early 250s were actually made in Japan - I have one currently in my stock.
In common with their student flutes the move to Indonesia manufacture did nothing to improve the quality. They are still good student instruments, but not as good as they used to be.

If a brand new Yamaha 250 says "Made in Japan", comes with two barrels, a pair of white cotton gloves and in a wooden case, then you can be sure it's a knock-off Chinese fake as seen on eBay.
