Hey Corey,

You're talking about alot of money between these two items, so a test play (audition) is in order before buying.

I play the M13 P88, and it was a little flat out of the box. I use a shorter barrel to get in tune.

If the M15 plays flat, maybe it will get your tuning closer?

I haven't played the M15, but they seem to be related.

The Optimum ligature is my teacher's choice, and she could use most anything.

Has your teacher been any help in choosing the mouthpiece?

I have found that a better mouthpiece will often help in intonation problems. Sometimes, the instrument in just sharp. My R13 was completely weird- sharp in some registers, flat in others. An overhaul by Brannen Woodwinds fixed that real fast!

I have the Optimum and I love it.

try to get a longer barrel. That helped me. I got a muncy barrel. The web site is www.muncywinds.com If you are not happy with it, you can return it.

I don't know why, but I can tell you that when I first got my E-11, I had the same problem. But it soon disappeared quickly with a new 'Selmer' mouthpiece, which is not only near enough accurate, but also has a deep tone.

A quite experienced customer of mine played flat on her new Selmer Signature. I tried it with same set up, and played 1/4 semitone sharp.
Could that be the player!
