I'm performing this in 2 weeks and this is one of the hardest thing I've ever played. All around high register stuff with awkward fingering and many runs that are not part of my standard scale arsenal. I have nightmares about rehearsal 67
Anyway, one part I still can't figure out is in the last movement, rehearsal # 84. Is there a magic fingering for E-A grace notes?
Thanks!

Wait a minute, this is the part that goes F-F-F E-A-E? It's all practice. I don't find trick alternate fingerings much help, just a nice small airstream, think of the E-A interval as one and the following E as separate.

Very interesting question regarding the grace notes.
Yes, I think this is almost impossible to do consistently (as asked to do by the composer).
I use an overblown E fingering but add the RH C# key to try to get the harmonic A. One has to bite as well. Getting back down to the E is the challenge.
This is just as hard for the oboe player so the alternation does nothing to enhance the execution of the passage.
I think that because Prokofiev was a pianist, this sort of passage does not really lie well on the clarinet but should be thought of as more of an effect rather than something that can be played 100%.

Unfortunately for me, the oboist nails it every time she plays it. :(

OK once again Peter Hadcock comes to the rescue.
Finger high E without the RH Eb, then jump to A using RH F#/C# and first two side keys with RH index.
Best so far on my RC clarinet.
