Hi folks,
On occasion, I have borrowed a Selmer Paris Eb soprano clarinet from a lady in a local community orchestra (I'm sometimes asked to play eefer or bass if there's a part). Sadly, she passed away earlier this year. I recently communicated with her husband my interest in buying this instrument, and he seemed willing to sell it. I'm trying to determine a fair price.
The instrument is an older Selmer Paris. I don't have the serial number handy, but I'm guessing its a Series 9 or older. It was in pretty good shape, didn't have any cracks, and she had taken good care of it. While I don't know when it was last overhauled, I don't think the instrument will need one for a while. Can anyone suggest a fair offering price?
I've looked around on places like Ebay and on-line shops and haven't seen any recent sales that I could use as a starting point. Thanks for any advice.

Dunno why, but $1500 seems like a good starting point...Just my intuition...Maybe $1750 though?

Older Selmer Ebs are excellent and in demand. Selmer Bbs from this era average around $1000 on eBay. I'd start negotiations there.

I agree with Ken.
I have an early 1960's Selmer Series 9 Eb. It is a fantastic horn. It is one of the best and most comfortable Eb clarinets that I have played. I always look forward to any opportunity to play it. Enjoy!
