For those who have never seen one or if you want another peek at one of these monsters, Check out item #1414658816 on eBay. Keep in mind it is almost the same diameter as a soda can.

The "Linton Contra Bass" looks like it was made by the Orsi Company in Milan. An old Orsi catalog shows instruments like this as I recall. It probably was imported by Linton. An old Linton brochure advertized a bass oboe, by the way.
