So I own a black, wood clarinet and the brand logo is an oval containing the words "NOBLET PARIS" (all capital letters). On top of the oval is a lyre containing a "D." Below the oval is a wide "D" superimposed over an "N." Model # 905B is stamped on the bottom, posterior of each of the joints and "MADE IN FRANCE" is stamped on the top posterior of the upper joint. Does anyone know anything about this clarinet like how old it is or level of quality could be expected or what it might be worth? The barrel that is currently with the clarinet is plastic and does not seem to be original to the clarinet.

Amazingly this is almost exactly the same clarinet as I play. I believe the D Noblet line died around 1920 when Leblanc took over. My serial number is 9248. I would highly recommend this clarinet, it plays well through almost 4 octaves, well in tune with pretty great intonation. I have played several of the intermediate wood buffet clarinets and I would say this instrument out plays them easily. Try the barrel that came with the instrument, very rarely a mouthpiece or barrel made from plastic just fits the instrument, the mouthpiece I use for my noblet is a plastic one with a few modifications done over time. If you are interested there are a few problems with this instrument in terms of keywork which can be improved, a local repair person should be able to fix them. I haven't come across any other D noblet clarinets so I have no idea how much it could sell for, though I may be interested. How is the condition of the instrument?
