Hello All Fellow Clarinet Players,
What can you all suggest on a good reed holder? I have used mant different types.I am never happy with any of the ones that I have used.
Thank You,
Miles

I like the Vito reed guard. It holds 4 reeds, has a rubber to hold the reed, and has slots in the table for air-flow.

I use a Klawus reed case that holds 12 reeds flat on glass,I also used one of the Vandoren hygro reed cases but wasn't really happy with it.Wiseman also make some nice wood finish cases that are about the same price as the Klawus.

I was moderately happy with my Vandoren reed holder. It's the one with the charcoal insert to keep mold from growing. It works fine until the little germs figure out that they can live in the grooves and then jump onto my nice reeds. I just bought a Selmer reed case. It's a bit spendy, but my reeds haven't warped at all and there's no mold.

I too use the Selmer reed holders and like them very much. (expensive) The Vandorens work well but will mold your reeds if you leave the charcoal inserts in. I removed them and they did not mold the reeds anymore. (inexpensive)

Best,

I use a Wiseman case with a glass surface and padding. Works just fine with minimal hassle.

I make do with the U-shaped plastic ones that Vandoren reeds come in. They're light and have plenty of ventilation.

Daniel's Reeds come in a nice holder, but you have to make sure the reeds are dry before you put them in, since mold can get into the grooves.

The Vandoren case made my reeds mould also, maybe I should have persevered with it,cultured some and discovered a cure for cancer or foot and mouth disease or something.
