Has anyone tried both a Bliss and a Yamaha Allegro? Any observations about how the two compare?
Also . . . the Bliss comes with a mouthpiece specially designed for it. I once tried an M-15 on a Bliss, and although it worked, it didn't seem to be the best match. Are there any other mouthpieces that work with a Bliss, or is the original Bliss mouthpiece the best choice?

Is this the new Yamaha Allegro (YCL-550AL)? If so I think it's basically a YCL-450 with gold plated posts and an adjustable thumbrest. It's an intermediate model as is the Leblanc Bliss.
The Bliss LB-210 and the intermediate Yamaha clarinets are decent instruments but like all intermediate clarinets they may not represent a great value. If I were looking for a new clarinet in that price range I'd probably wait until I had the extra $300 and buy the YCL-650 instead.

I have not played a Yamaha, but just got a Bliss 210 after a lifetime on a vintage R13. I really like the Bliss for an easy blow and very nice precise feeling to the action. They have three additional adjusting screws which really help with a clean easy long B/E. I give it three thumbs up. It's easier to play and it sounds like me.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, the Bliss seems to be a nice clarinet, and as you pointed out, it has some great features.
The mouthpiece that comes with it is decent, although it might not be for everyone. Since my post in July, I contacted Conn-Selmer with mouthpiece questions. I learned that some other mouthpieces do work, such as the Vandoren B-45 and the 5RV, but others like the M series are not recommended. I wonder if anyone has ever made a list of recommended and not recommended mouthpieces for the Bliss.
