Mystery clarinet

Can anybody tell me the overall length of a "C" clarinet? A friend has just acquired a mystery instrument which is a fraction over 23 inches long (58.5cm) including the mouthpiece. I think it's a C, but I'm not sure. It's not playable, so I can't try it.

My Noblet C comes in at 22 7/8 inches (58.0 cm).

Finger low D and slap your left ring finger down hard on the low C hole. Then finger low A and slap your right ring finger down on its hole. Even if the horn isn't playable, the resonance from the slaps will be at the pitch of the low C and G.

Thanks for the responses. The dimensions seem right for a C. I hadn't heard of the slapping method before, many thanks for that. I'll try it next weekend when I see him.
