I'm looking for a large collection of short pieces that are pleasing and easy on the ear
I get asked sometimes to pull out my clarinet and play things for people in an informal setting. Rather than play my current pieces with all the mistakes and stress involved I'd like to have a stash of about 100 relatively easy pieces, around Grade 4 ABRSM, 1/2 a page to a page in length, that I can just take out and play without worrying too much about mucking them up
In this situation people just want some nice sounds, perhaps things they have heard before, and nothing too challenging (for me or them!)
Does anyone have any suggestions? A mix of classical, pop or jazz would be good, or any collection of each

Jon,
You might enjoy taking a look at the several books Richard Stoltzman has out. One is entitled "Aria," and one is entitled "The Richard Stoltzman Songbook". My husband, who is an intermediate player, has great fun with these.

There is always the "Fake Book" route which have hundreds of pop tunes in melody form with chord symbols for a keyboard or guitar.

If you purchase Aria, plan to make a lot of copies, as the page turns are very, very awkward.
