Hi
I've got a used Buffet E11 just a few years old, in which there is no a "made in germany" mark, nor a "made in france" mark
In fact there's no mark this kind in it.
What does it mean? Where was it made?
By the way, the case is similar to other that I have seen with a "Made in Germany" E11
Anyone knows?

If it isn't labeled "E11 France" on the upper joint then it was almost certainly made in Germany.

Ok, but I don't understand why, there are E11's with a "Made in Germany" (I have seen several), marked in the inferior joint, next to the serial number and others (like mine) without that

It could potentially be one of the Chinese counterfeits but we would need to see pictures to tell. Most of the ones I've seen listed on ebay have been pretty obvious.

None of the E11s I've ever seen in the UK have 'Made in Germany' stamped on the back of the lower joint between the socket ring and the thumbrest - the Evettes (prior to being rebranded as E11s) did, but not the E11s themselves.
Buffets from the Buffet factory in France will always have 'Made in France' stamped on them beneath the logo - the Schreiber-built ones (B10, B12, E10, E11) only have the Buffet logos and model name on the top joint.
As far as I'm aware (and correct me if I'm wrong), instruments made for the US market had to be marked with the country of origin by law. Only with the recent rise of Chinese instruments flooding the market this seems to have gone by the wayside.
And there are Chinese Buffet B12 fakes that say 'Made in France' on them when B12s were never made in France!

It is an E11 made by Schreiber in Germany whether it says 'Made in Germany' on it or not.
They weren't made for Buffet by anyone else but Schreiber who were part of the B&H (and later called The Music Group) group at the time which were formed of several companies - Buffet (France), Schreiber (Germany), Besson (formerly B&H in the UK and also Besson in France), R.Paesold (string maker in Germany), J.Winter (case maker in Germany) - and much later J.Keilwerth (Germany) and I think Rico (US) were added and maybe others besides.
It was only very recently when Buffet went its separate ways from the former B&H group that the E11 was being made in the former Leblanc factory in France (which is now owned by Buffet - Leblanc are now part of the Conn-Selmer group and no longer produce clarinets in France) that the E11 was given the new model name 'E11 France' which is clearly stamped on the top joint - that separates them from the Schreiber built E11s.

My E11 Buffet with silver plated keys, without the "Made in germany" label, is exactly the same quality that the ones in which that label is printed.
Both were made in Germany by Schreiber with the same quality control, the same procedure, the same machinery, and so on.
Is this true?
