Hey Willie,
First time I drove through Tyler, I knew how Moses felt seeing the Promised land.
By the time I got to El Paso, I understood why SouthWest airline was so successful. Compared to my hometown in North Carolina, Texans have no accent 'tall.
"That's right, you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you anyway."
If you wish to hear beautifully spoken English, with good manners behind it go to Charleston, SC or Plano, TX. None of these people would ever correct the pronunciation of a guest, at least not in public.
Having slaughtered my share of French in the presence of Quebecoise in Montreal and elsewhere, I suggest we lighten up. So long as a language is being mangled daily, it lives.
What's next, "How long should a clarinet player grow fingernails?"
