I just got my first mouthpiece patch(es) - Runyon patch. After putting it on the mouthpiece, I realized that it is about twice the length I need. Do you typically cut them in half, or use them full size?

It didn't come with instructions I have it installed with the longest part along the length of the horn seem logical to me.

I have found that they are indeed longer than needed... at least, the Vandoren patches I have are.
I have currently run out of them and was thinking that cutting them in half would be a smart idea just for cost's sake...
Let me know how it goes!

They are possibly made long for the sake of comfort of the upper lip, i.e. so the lip rests on the patch rather than the edge of the patch.

I always cut them in half, myself. Not that I use that many of them - they seem to last a long time for me.

I've never had hat problem, mine always fit quite nicely. I use the thinner clear ones, and mine seem to last a good while. I think it actually pads my teeth moreso than my lip because I hate the way my teeth feels when there right agianst the plastic!
