 Rene Lorenz ????

I hope I'm submitting this in the correct fashion. My apologies if not. Since there are many people on this board who are very knowledgeable about the history of various clarinet manufacturers, I wanted to submit a question about a grenadilla wood specimen that I recently bought at a garage sale. The bell simply has the label: Rene Lorenz. On the lower stack, there is an engraved: "Made in Italy". However, no where on any of the other pieces is there a serial number. I've completely disassembled the stacks and examined each very carefully, but I can find no serial number or other markings. None
of the bores exhibits any sign of cracking that I can locate and the external surfaces appear to be in very good condition (that is to say, no evidence of cracks or splits). I am wondering if there's anyone who might be familiar with this clarinet production and could supply some additional facts (I'll take speculation at this point also) about it. While it may make no difference, I would also add that the case is a rather common one that I've seen used by different manufacturers and brand names. One end of it is raised, basically in the rough shape of the bell, and there are two carrying straps; one from the top part of the case and the second from the bottom part of the case. As mentioned, I've seen many manufacturers who used the same case on different brands. Many thanks.

Don

Can you provide a picture or two?
The René Lorenz may just be a fantasy / trade name with no connection to the real maker.

...

I just stumbled over the name of Mario Corso who seems to crank out quite a lot of instruments compared to the size of the company. They exist since the fifties and it looks like a candidate to supply a "Trade Name Manufacturer" someplace overseas.

(I'm not saying this is indeed the case, and there's nothing inherently bad about it, don't get me wrong)

Thanks Ben. I will have the wife unit take some pics and I'll upload them here.....I've never uploaded a picture file to this board.
