So, my band director is asking me to double both the alto clarinet & 3rd clarinet parts on Grainger's Lincolnshire Posy... Fun stuff!
What he wants me to do is play the 3rd clarinet part as much as possible, but play the prominent alto clarinet parts when needed... I know for sure that pertains to the 3rd & 6th movements. Does anyone know of any other important alto clarinet parts in the other movements? I plan to study the score further with my director sometime next week, but I would like to have a bit more of an idea of what I should be playing where for my rehearsal on Monday.

I have only the Compressed score, but in the clarinet choir passage that opens the 4th movement, alto clarinet is mentioned several times. That might be another place where you need to cover alto.
If it was me, I'd want to stick to one instrument throughout. This piece is hard enough already, especially if you do all 6 movements, without the overhead of switching instruments here and there.

Thank you!
Ideally, I would rather stick with just playing alto clarinet for the whole piece. Unfortunately with part assignments, I don't have much of a choice but to double.

I think you have something in the first movement (Lisbon) Alto measures 17 - 33.
