Hello Friends,
Love this The Clarinet BBoard. Have been a fan for years.

I have two antique clarinets that I am trying to positively identify. I am wondering if anyone might be willing to assist me?

#1 is a Pre-Selmer F. Barbier that does not appear to be made during Barbier's time with Couesnon. I estimate it's manufacturing date at between 1895 - 1917. I know from the lady I purchased it from that it was used by her grandfather in a US Military marching band during World War I. There is actually evidence of this fact: The original bell is missing and has been replaced with an M. Lacroix bell, which were imported by the US military for from France. My guess is that either the original broke, or got mixed up with a fellow soldier's. It also came with a music holder. I've had this beautiful instrument for 25 years and it plays wonderfully.

#2 is more interesting to me. It is a Buffet system clarinet. Made sometime between 1780 - 1850. It is a Bb, but appears similar to this one: http://www.uark.edu/ua/nc/NCCollectionPage/Page/BuffetAlbertBass.htm
