Which is your favorite and why?
I'm still trying to figure out which I want to perform so I thought it would be nice to get the opinions of others on which they like best from both a listeners and performance viewpoint.

If someone put a gun to my head, and told me I MUST pick a Spohr concerto, I would pick the second- but they are all horrible pieces of music.

The fourth in E minor is my favorite. Sabine Meyer released a CD playing it and I consider it to be the most ultimate (maybe not the hardest though it is a bear) to play on A clarinet.
To be honest it is my favorite concerto for clarinet. There is something in the piece that just resonates with me on a personal level.

I like 3, 1, 2 and 4 in that order. 2 is the most difficult. 4 is for A clarinet and is the most laid-back and lyrical, at the cost of brilliance.
They're a big step up in difficulty from the Weber concertos and call for lots of high notes, up to C7 . The Webers are somewhat better music, but Spohr is underrated.
They have many lyrical passages, but are also uninhibitedly virtuosic. You need to alternate operatic singing and show off speed.
