Hello
i am from germany and i do have a question about a Buffet Crampon clarinet
I have a
Bb Instrument, Böhmisch system, and the Serial number finder at the buffet homepage shows me two different Instruments!
Serial Number is 167276
First:
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : BC1102-2
Serial number : 167267
Year of manufacturing : 06/11/2006
this cannot be, because the instrument is older
and second
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : N 2 DN Sib Amrique
Serial number : 167267
Year of manufacturing : 17/05/1976
the year seems to be okay, but what shall i do with the other information???
Sib means Bb instrument, but the others?? No2 will be full bohm system, or?
can you help me
Somebody means it could be a model made by Shreiber company??
Thanks a lot for your help
Markus

Markus, It seems that the serial number for your instrument does not match the serial numbers for the other two. Did you not find an instrument that matched your instrument's serial number?

If it's a Schreiber-built Buffet (B10, B12 and E11), it won't have "Made in France" under the Buffet logos and also won't have the logo stamped on the lower joint.
Former oboe finisher
Howarth of London
1998 - 2010
The opinions I express are my own.

According to the Buffet Code the sequence you provided BC1102-2 yeilds:
BC= Buffet Crampon
11= Bb (Sib)
02= E13
-2= Silver Plate

Markus,
Did you accidentally reverse the last two digits of the serial number when you checked the Buffet site? Entering 167276 returns the following:
Brand : Buffet Crampon
Instrument : N 2 BN sans Mib grave [without low Eb]
Serial number : 167276
Year of manufacturing : 17/05/1976
I might expect the instrument to have all the characteristics of the full Boehm model except for the low Eb. Does that describe your clarinet?
Best regards,
jnk

Hello to all the friendly messages!
I will check it out if i have searched for the wrong number!
And yes full boehm system it is!
But when it is, what model of clarinet do i have?
Is it a R13 with boehm system??
or is there another instrument it could be??
And what could it be worth?
Thanks a lot
Greetings from germany
Markus

If there is no model designation on the upper joint (e.g., RC), you have an R13 bore. When they were Buffet's U.S. importer, Carl Fischer referred to the full Boehm version of this instrument as an R16 1/2. Without the low Eb, it was an R16. As far as I know, Buffet, itself, never adopted these designations, however. I don't know when Fischer ceased to be Buffet's U.S. importer. I do have a catalog from around 1968 that includes these designations.
I hope that helps a little.
Best regards,
jnk

Hello
here i am again
I wrote to the buffet crampon company and the told me that!
"Die Klarinette # 167267 ist eine B-Klarinette versilbert Modell 2 DN. Das ist ein Modell, das seit Jahren nicht mehr gebaut wird. Diese Klarinette waren ähnlich zu der heutige RC-Linie. "
The clarinet is a b-clarinet silver plated, which wont be build anymore!
Similar to the RC-line"
The Serial number is defintitely 167267
Greetings from Germany!
