I saw an ad for the Best Buy instrument buy program (Smash is behind it), so I put info in for a 2004 Silver Plated Buffet R-13 in mint condition.
Reply I got was this:
Hi David,
Thanks for visiting the Best Buy MI Trade In! The offer for your gear is a real quote. This offer is based on the condition and used market value of your gear. Also keep in mind that we buy these items to resell, similar to a wholesaler.
We are offering you $712.80 in store credit or $570.24 cash for the Buffet R-13 BC-1131-2-0 you entered in our automated system. This offer is good for 10 days. Please also note that we will pick up the cost of shipping and insurance on our UPS account if you choose to send in your gear. If you have any questions or if I can do anything else for you please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Also, if there are any extra items or upgrades, please let us know as it will likely affect the value.
Thank you for your time and interest,
Dxxxxx Cxxx (name left out)

So this was my reply to that offer.

It does come with a thumb rest cover, so the value should be another $400 or so. Even then it's a lowball offer.

Ask for a set 6 generic AA batteries to sweeten the deal.

I have $650 cash, and I'll pay shipping, and throw in a free pair of orchestra tickets, but you better act fast, this offer is valid for a limited time only.
But seriously, I don't know if this exercise is to really sell the instrument, or just for a laugh, but would you have better luck with a more specialized dealer like wwbw.com or possibly some double reed resellers like ann hodge or forrests music?
