P.D.Q. Bach (Peter Schickele) composed a duo, though I cannot vouch for its inherent "seriousness."

I can ask our resident tuba-ist-er (whatever you call them) if you don't mind waiting a day or two.

The Schickele duet is a great piece. I played it for my 2007 recital.
"Little Suite for Winter"
Get a good tuba player!

Also there's "Quattro Bicine" by Roger Vaughn.
More "academic" than the Schickele, but good. Philharmusica Co. in NYC publishes it.

My ex-husband tubist and I played the Beethoven clarinet/bassoon duets together successfully.

Henry Cowell's Hymn and Fuging Tune #18 is for Bb soprano and Eb contrabass saxophones, the latter being an easy transposition for tuba.
The "Beauty and the beast" movement from Ravel's Mother Goose Suite might be workable as a clarinet/tuba/piano trio.
