I don't know teachers in Portland.
My son and I found an excellent teacher in the Santa Clara Valley by checking with the local university here. She was subing for the studio instructor and took us on after her semester was up. We've been pleased. Most music depts. will gladly provide recommendations also.
So try the nearest college or university. Sometimes little music shops have excellent teachers they can recommend.

What area of Portland are you in? It kind of depends on how much of a commute you want. My teacher lives on the outskirts of Portland towards Beaverton and I have a friend who takes from the Principal player in the Oregon Symphony. Another friend of mine takes from a woman who lives in South East Portland. Just let me know if you want to know more.

Hello and thanks for your response.....
I live in NE portland, Alameda to be exact. SE Portland would not be far. I've gotten some names already, perhaps you know them ? Caroline Amquist and
Alicia Charton. Thanks in advance

Carolyn Arnquist is my teacher and I absolutely adore her. I don't know the other name you mentioned... the teacher in SE Portland is Dunya Jennings. I've got a whole list over here of teachers in this general area, but those are the only two that I really know much about. Go ahead and contact me if you want to know more.
Good luck!
Chrissie
