So why didn't the purchaser just contact the seller, tell them their concerns, and ask for a refund? I presume, since this ended up in the formal Paypal process, that the seller didn't want to give the refund and the seller was forced to take other action. And that doesn't seem very reputable of a seller that really loved/cared about the instrument either.

At the same time, Paypal (that auction site is owner) lets the clearly counterfeit clarinets and other bogus instruments from China continue on and on to be sold apparently without doing a thing about it.
