Can anyone recommend a good mouthpiece for my alto clarinet (Bundy)? I have a Selmer C85 on my Bass Clarinet. Is there an equivalent for the alto?

I would check out the Hite. They are very good for a very reasonable price.

I second the Hite. I played a Hite on a Bundy many years ago.

If you want a great mouthpiece, check what Walter Grabner has to offer.

While I like Hite and Forbes, I luv Grabner mouthpieces. YMMV.

Several years ago I ordered virtually every brand available. Some were truly horrible but the Hites played well on both my Buffet Prestige alto and LeBlanc basset horn. However, I ordered a Lomax about a year ago and it was AMAZING. They sent me two and I bought both of them. One worked a bit better on my basset horn, the other better on my alto. Have had lots of very nice compliments on my playing of both with these mouthpieces.

I use a Selmer HS* mouthpiece on my 1979 Selmer (wood) alto clarinet. I'm an amateur, but fwiw, I like that mouthpiece in part because it's completely unremarkable, therefore versatile.

I use a Yamaha 4C mpc on my Holton alto because it's what the nearest wind inst store had in stock. Is there a Hite/Grabner/Fobes/Vandoren model significantly better for a mostly-mandolinist with a weakish embouchure?
Zeke Hoskin
Bb: student Buffet, orig mpc or Selmer HS*, Rovner lig, Legere 2 1/4
Alto: Holton, Yamaha 4C, Rovner, Vandoren 2 (but it likes Plasticovers better)
Contra Alto: Bundy, Ricos it came with; works better with orig lig than Rovner.

The Hite is very reasonably priced and seem to be fairly consistent. Definitely improved my sound. The Lomax was a step above but pricier. I play in a wind symphony and clarinet choir so needed the better sound.

I play a Vandoren 5RV alto clarinet mouthpiece on a Leblanc Basset horn. I like it because it has more focus in the second register than any of the others I've tried. Warning: try more than one or two of them -- found wide variation between individual examples!

I use a Bill Street alto mouthpiece on my Leblanc basset horn - love it.
