I recently bought an old E 45 buffet that came with a Harry Pedler & CO Elkhart mouthpiece. Does anybody have any ideas about its quality or price mite be. I havent tried it yet but it's in pretty good condition

Matt,
The Pedler Co has not been in business for years. If it plays okay for you then don't worry about it. If not, then you can always get a good starter mouthpiece for less than $50. The Hite Premier and the Fobes Debut come to mind. There are others just as excellent. I'm sure that others will post their opinions and preferences.

It depends on the vintage. Some Pedler mouthpieces are poorly made plastic ones, while the hard rubber ones I've seen were excellent blanks.

I have a "The Pedler Co, Elkhart, Ind." plastic mp [made in USA] , looks like # 1. It seems quite close for my taste, it might have been made by Woodwind [or Selmer-Bundy] back then, they did use numbered designations. I would guess, Matt, that "Harry" would indicate an earlier mp. Luck, Don
