Hi everybody!
I am working on the Saint-Saens and Hindemith Sonata for a recital in April. I am looking for a few good recordings of each. I dont want necessarily what anyone considers the "best" But a few with varying ideas, so I have some different interpretations to compare. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
I have two recordings of the Saint-Saens and I'm sorry to say they are very similar in interpretation. Richard Stolzman+ Paul Meyer play with good techniques but with vibrato which I find offputting.
Chris.

I have Jonathan Cohler doing the Hindemith. Very musical in my opinion. It has flow and good phrasing. The last movement he gives real lilt to, very energetic, it has direction.
I also have a recording of the Saint-Saens by Karl Leister. Very lyrical. He makes the most of the line, singing it with emotion ( at times I think that emotion is restrained, I would do more ) But his putting together of the music with his partner is real teamwork.
