 Mouthpiece Questions
Author: Jason

Hello,
I am an adult beginner who just purchased a used Yamaha 34 which came with a pyne sinfonia mouthpiece. My question is this a mouthpiece that a beginner can use succesfully. I read some information on this board about assymetrical mouthpieces that has me a little concerned. All help and any recommendations would be appreciated. Jason

The wwandbw catalog describes it as, "Excellent student mouthpiece. Medium hand finished. Highest quality rubber." The Pyne web site doesn't give any indication that assymetrical is an option, so this shouldn't be a concern. I think you have an excellent quality mouthpiece, assuming that it is in good condition. How does it play for you?

I think the wwandbw has something a bit screwy - the Sinfonia is $125 new, a lot more than most beginning students can afford. :^)

Jim Pyne is a sponsor of Sneezy.Org and a personal friend - his web site is at http://www.pyne-clarion.com/ and I'm sure that Jim would be happy to answer your questions directly.

Wouldn't it be nice if life weren't built upside down. By the time we're old and tired we finally have the money and wisdom to really enjoy life -- if we only still could. We don't/won't/can't make the investement in the quality equipment that makes playing so much more fun until after we already know how much fun it can be.

Pyne also makes a PolyCrystal mouthpiece that is a great value for the price and the sort of price a beginner would consider.
