Always half hole with 1st finger, Oboe style. Easy.

3 fingers LH and G# key (the one on the throat A/Ab key post at the top front of the clarinet).

Check my fingering chart on my website, I have several that work well, use the one the comes out the easiest and best in tune on your clarinet. ESP

It's helpful that people have posted alternatives, because in my experience it's necessary to experiment. I'm an amateur and no expert, but what works well for that leap on some of my clarinets produces shrieks of agony on others.

Lelia, you're correct about having to try different fingerings for different people but with certain fingerings you have to also voice slightly different to make them work properly. A little more embouchure pressure, a little less, a tiny bit more mouthpiece, perhaps even raising or lowering your tongue position slightly, remember the word slightly. All the high Es on my chart work well for me on my clarinet but they do differ slightly when it comes to intonation and response. I tend to use the regular fingering on just about everything I've ever played but one or two of the alternates do work best in the passage being asked about on my clarinet for me. ESP

in the last audition i took I had to play the solo and I used the oboe "1/2 hole" idea. This was on my previous clarinet (a buffet) but I'm not sure what I would use on my current yamaha. A tuner would tell me what to do I suppose Check them and see what feels and works the best!
