 High B Fingering
Author: ClaytonMarch

What are some possible fingerings for high B? That is, the one that sits 5 ledger lines above the staff. Specifically, I'd like to be able to trill to it from high A.

I've looked at half a dozen fingering charts but the highest ones only go up to A.

Thanks,

C

The altissimo B fingering I use is Sp. Th. xxo|xxo F#/C# (with altissimo C being Sp. Th. xoo|xoo F#/C#) - but I've never found a good altissimo A-B trill.

There are many choices ...

I often use (if the passage permits)

TR + (A key) oxx/xxo

or

TR + (G# key) xxo/xxo

The first choice is a little higher in pitch than the second.

A to B trill -

Play standard A:

TR oxx/ooo (C#)

trill to either:

TR + (A key) oxx/xxx (C#)
or
TR + (A key) oxx/xxo (C#)

The 2nd trill choice is slightly higher in pitch

GBK,

And I thought I was pretty far out there with my Zen of Bass Clarinet thread. So here you list some fingering for a series of notes/trills that to my old ears seem like...like... someone is biting on the reed.

So you want to trill up really high
And for this feat some ears surely fry
With a reed like a log
for some sounds just a dog
Can hear only before he'd up and die.

Thanks,

Adding the A key to TR oxx/ooo C# works well enough for this.

I started learning a tune played by Andy Statman and think now, that he must be on a C clarinet. Though, other than pushing the range a little, it sits well on Bflat.
