 Format YouTube video tip

I was puzzled as to why some youtube videos displayed fullscreen and others displayed in the small window format. Doing a google search I came across the following information which allows the youtube links one posts to be modified so that they open "fullscreen".

My own erratic experience with the fullscreen icon on some youtube videos in which the fullscreen was sometimes blank, sometimes fullscreen as expected, and sometimes completely non-functional, led me to avoid that issue completely as detailed below.

Perhaps this information will be useful for other forum members.

(Note to Mark: If this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry. Please move or remove it.)

METHOD
Begin with this "key" code snippet:

http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=

Examine your selected youtube link and copy everything after the FIRST equal sign (=):

Example link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTQD7imxd8o&feature=endscreen&NR=1

Example of what to copy: nTQD7imxd8o&feature=endscreen&NR=1

The result is as follows:

the "key" link: http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=
"concatenated with"
the "target" link portion after the FIRST equal sign (=): nTQD7imxd8o&feature=endscreen&NR=1

Make sure there is no "white space" or "blank space" in the final coded link.

The final result which will be a functional link (except for making it "clickable") will look like this (showing the "key" and "target" portions in sequence without any white space):

http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=nTQD7imxd8o&feature=endscreen&NR=1

This code can now be copied into your browser window to execute, or for this bulletin board you can make the link "clickable" by adding the tags to the beginning and end of the newly created link. It will look like this (again, no white space):

{url}http://www.youtube.com/swf/l.swf?video_id=nTQD7imxd8o&feature=endscreen&NR=1{/url}

NOTE: Replace the "curly braces" { } surrounding the URL tags in the above example link with "square brackets" [ ]. I used the curly braces so you can see the code, otherwise the link would post as clickable and the code would be invisible.

Now when properly formatted with square braces you can simply click that link and it will load automatically in the fullscreen mode.

To see an example of this technique at work on this bulletin board check out the topic "If you like jazz, or just cows..." originally posted by chorusgirl. My comment near the end on 12-3-11 provides the original youtube link as copied from the internet and the enhanced link using the method described above. I'm bumping it so it will be close to this post.

NOPE! Apparently that type of bump is improper etiquette--my apologies--

But to locate the topic you can use the board's search function. Just type into the search field the words "cows jazz" (absent the quote marks) and check the unique thread box. A thread with the subject "If you like jazz, or just cows" should be near the top.

PS If there's a better way, please tell me! I searched the board without success.
