Hey guys I just wanted to say that I just brought a Gregory Smith Kasper Mouthpiece and it is highly the Greatest Mouthpiece that I have played on.
I spoke to Mr,Smith directly he is a great guy!
So I just wanted to know who also loves his mouthpieces as much as I do??

Oh I just got one about three weeks ago and I absolutely love mine. The only thing is, is that the only reeds that sound good are Vandorens and thats about it. I love the sound I get though, and I got my new mouthpiece 2 days before region band auditions and I got a perfect score on tone quality with it. Its unbelievable and every bit wortht he money!!!

Can anyone tell me what the differences in his current models are? Which facings did you try and which did you buy? Any idea of tip openings? Reed Strengths?

I have had one of Greg's Kasper mouthpiece for about six months. It is great. I tried a few others of his mp and they weren't the same. You have to get you order in early because greg has a waiting list.
he is really great to do business with.

Count me among the many giving Greg Smiths mps the "thumbs up!" I have recently been through an "audition" expedition having tried all of his models (Chedavell 1, 1* & 1+ and his two Kaspar copies, the "Chicago" and "Cicero.") and have the following recomendations: if you are an orchestral or small ensemble kind of player, than any of his models will do fine; however, if you play in concert bands, jazz bands or other venues that require more "power," you may need his Kaspar models. I recently purchased a Ched 1* which works well for my quintet and orchestral playing (great sound and response), but for my concert band and jazz work, I am resorting to my old original Chicago Kaspar and my Bay mp ( which Charles copied from my Kaspar when he was still in Ithica, NY--brighter, louder sound). Gregs Cicero Kaspar copy is most similar to my original Chicago and I highly recommend it as an "all-around" mouthpiece. Personally, for all of Gregs professional status and commitments, he is surprisingly accessable and a pleasure to work with, but don't try to reach him for the next two weeks as I believe he is touring Australia playing recitals in all the major cities. Then, after a short return, he will be off to China for more of the same. We should all wish him a safe and successful journey(ies) and then, when he returns, buy his mouthpieces because they are great!!! (IMHO) Good clarineting, y'all.

I will be going to Australia for a 2 MONTH solo recital/masterclass tour of 7 major cities there starting Feb. 15th (I am on sabbatical from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra this winter season).
I can be reached through my normal email address and will be able to take questions and orders during this entire time period.

I'll have to second all the wonderful comments about Greg's mouthpieces. He sent me both Ched's and Kapar copies. I liked each for different reasons and different playing venues - ended up with one of each. They are the best thing that has happened to my playing in a long time. Greg is a super guy and very easy and friendly to deal with. Best of luck to him on his tour!

Wait, I never knew that there were diiferent types of Greg's Kasper mouthpieces. How do I know which kind I have, I always just thought there was only one kasper. Guess i was wrong.
