Just a Bb, A, and the little Eb. All Buffets. If you change the question to mouthpieces, I'm guessing at least 300 perhaps! Most likely more, don't tell my wife. She'll make me sell this pile on ebay and of course she will head to Beverly Hills with the cash! Reeds are also way up there. I'm not sure, last estimate 5000. I have some 40 year old Morre's, which are really good. There's some still out there but I've heard from excellent players that they got soft, which leads me to be it's the last of the reeds, probably poor quality cane cut way too early.
Oh, I have a silver clarinet used as madern art. Does this qualify?

1. I own 12 clarinets.
2. Most I bought just for the fun of trying something different.
3. My favorite is the Boosey & Hawkes 8-10. Why? I can play everything from classical to jazz with equal aplomb on the 8-10. The complex tone, easy response, powerful projection, excellent intonation, and satisfying heftiness of the 8-10 make it an ideal instrument for me. In my hands, it sings.

I agree Hank. We've all heard 'bout GBK's clarinet arsenal before........with 17 of my own, I'm way behind. My favorite(s), [again, for the record ad nausium] is my set of vintage 1960's R13 Buffets. Why so many???? G.A.S. (and the fact that I do not trade in my old when buying new or used)

I used to own several sets, the reason being none of them did everything I needed, and I kept searching for the answer.
After getting my Fritz Wurlitzer Reform Boehms (1951) refurbished, I sold most of the others and bought a Selmer Reference 54 tenor with the money. I'll never need another soprano clarinet, nor another tenor again--they are the perfect horns for me.
I kept only two other clarinets--an old Boosey & Hawkes plastic model that I'd used as a beginner (and kept for my kids), and the Selmer 10S Bb that I'd gigged on in New Orleans as an eighteen year old (couldn't let go of that old screamin' bomb dropper--too many memories).

I have three Bb clarinets:
* Yamaha 72, just purchased on eBay, a nice instrument.
*Frank Holton Collegiate. Wooden instrument, made in France, probably 1950s. Holton made primarily Brass instruments, his metal clarinets were made in Elkhorn Wisc. He sold his clarinet line to Leblanc in the early 60s. I got this in the mid 1960s, it's been my main clarinet, when I played, that is. It has a nice tone for an intermediate instrument. Promised to my Granddaughter if she learns to play.
*Olds Plastic, recently purchased through Craigslist, my backup and outdoor instrument. Has a brighter tone than my wood clarinets.
WISH LIST:
*C Clarinet, for times I don't want to transpose when playing from the church hymnal. Can't say I'm impressed with the tone of this instrument, however. It will have to be a steal.
*A Clarinet, but first I have to find a place to play it ;^).
*Alto Sax so I can start playing again.
Not even tempted to get an Eb, Alto, or Bass.

I have my old clarinets (Buffet R13 Bb/A) and my new clarinets (Yamaha CSG Bb/A) and a newer rosewood patricola Eb.
I'm in the market for a "C" clarinet at some point (if only for fun) and of course I'd love a bass but who has the money for an instrument you'll play 15 times?
Collecting clarinet is dangerous. Super expensive and super addictive. If I ever get to the point where I buy an Alto clarinet I know I have a problem.
Now i think this thread would be quite a bit longer if we talked about mouthpieces. I think I have 12 or 13 mouthpieces sitting next to me right now.

Over the past year I've added a few more R13's, sold a few and traded for others, so the "arsenal" is about the same. They all get played on a rotating basis and each has a different personality.
Most recent acquisition is a 97,xxx R13 Eb. It's happy to be here among cousins.

I'm not so sure about that. The alto clarinet has its uses, in clarinet choir and concert band. If however you're hunting for a basset horn (and not because you have the Mozart Requiem or Grand Partita coming up) I'd say an intervention might be in order.
My inventory:
2 Bbs (a 1973 Buffet R13, and a Diplomat that isn't currently functional),
1 A (a 1972 Buffet N11)
1 C (age and brand unknown, but possibly a Selmer)
1 bass (late-80s Noblet)

I have quite a few clarinets, just because I have a hard time motivating myself to sell them for half the price they were when I bought them.
5 Bb clarinets: An old plastic Artley, a no-name clarinet (plays horribly), a white Cecilio (also a piece of trash), a Buffet B12, and a Buffet R13.
1 A clarinet: a Buffet E11, made in Germany.
3 bass clarinets: 1430 Selmer U.S.A, 1180 Buffet, and a 1183 Buffet.
My favorite is definitely the 1183, since my focus is bass clarinet, but the R13 is a close second. I can't part with the 1180 for sentimental reasons. The plastic no-name is by far my least favorite, I'm honestly not sure why I have it (I believe it was a Christmas present a few years ago). The Cecilio isn't much better, but it's fun to play at pep band events where nobody cares how out of tune it is. It gets a lot of attention.
