Please guys can u help me. I just got this song today and i do know the notes. But the finger switches r extremely hard and going at the normal speed is extremely hard too. I knoe i know all of u r gonna say chromatic scales will help. But same in chromatic scales when ever i play them sometimes my finger switches r hard and to go fast its hard too. So ANY tips for me to play flight of the bumblee bee on clarinet. I already practice my chromatic scales but i think that is more for getting to know the notes. I need help in speed and finger switches. Please i love this song and i am dying to learn it. Please guys HELP ME!!!

Play it slowly, mark the left and right pinky switches, fork fingerings, side fingerings, etc... and practice until the patterns become memorized.

Thx alot but what do u mean by mark the left and right pinky switches. Otherwise thx for telling me to memorize cuz for me its impossible to read off the notes and play that fast! Any other tips ppl?

If you have a lot of time and dedication, get the following book:
The Clarinet Chromatic Machine by Kalmen Opperman.
It contains:
50 chromatic exercises,
6 chromatic etudes,
5 orchestral excerpts
and...
the Flight of the Bumblebee
You will learn a whole lot more than just playing the Flight, but it's worth the effort.

Thx for the tip Sylvain and plz tell me where to get the book. Now ppl plz keep sending tips on how to play this song. I really love it and i wanna learn it badly. I am only 13 and i know it'll be super hard for me to play. Thats y i need tips. Plz keep helping.

The chromatic scale(s) is one of the easiest to learn, but it takes a LOT OF PRACTICE and there are NO shortcuts. When you've "got it", you should be able to play from E3 through G6 flawlessly, every time. Then, you will discover the FOTBB is simply the chromatic scales starting in a bunch of different places--and really isn't so hard after all.

There's really not much more to say! It will take time and SLOW practice.
You start it as if it's the Flight of the Dodo ... The bumblebee comes much later.

Are you using the alternate fingerings for B/F# and the throat tone F#? In other words, consider the fingering for each note and evaluate it according to the speed it will gain. But remember that using a fingering with which you are not familiar may seem awkward for a while, even though it eventually will help.

Yes i've heard circular breathing does take a part, cuz u cant breathe through the piece therefore u need to use circular breathing technique, And i dont know how the heck u do the circular breathing too. So i will surely refer tp the chromatic scales but can some1 tell me how to do circular breathing. I dont take private music lessons thats y i come to this forum to discuss with u guys how to do things. So plz help me in the above. And thx for the great tips u've given me on how to play FOTBB (flight of the bumble bee)

You don't NEED to do circular breathing ... Someday you might WANT to use circular breathing, but considering the piece wasn't composed for clarinet, it most certainly not required.
Stop worrying about the complicated stuff ... You have a long way to go with the so-called normal stuff.

Do report back on how you progress.
BB is still on my list, as is CB. It's one of those distant goals, some miles behind Bach's Cello Suite and other challenges.
(In my opinion, BB+CB without a teacher or a solid background and a lot of patience is a recipe for frustration, but that's just me, I really don't mean to discourage anyone)

In the name of GOD! Mark Charlette that guitar player was so freaking awesome i have no words! Dude i am speechless. At first i thought thats bull and its sped up then when i say ppl in the back ground walking slowly im like WT* how the heck can he play that fast. The song take 1min and 20 sec to finish at normal speed AND that freaking dude took 2O DARN SECONDS. THAT IS FREAKING AMAZING I WISH I WERE HIM!

No. In fact, it isn't originally a clarinet solo at all (or a song). It's a little orchestral piece from an opera by Rimsky-Korsakov. Most of the chromatic stuff is played in the original by flutes and violins (often together). The clarinet plays only small pieces of it. There's lots of music for solo clarinet that's harder. Depending on what key it's in, your arrangement of Bumblebee may be harder or easier than others. Arrangers add or subtract whatever they want, depending on whether the collection the arrangement is in is supposed to be for very advanced players or not.

Try playing the theme from the film "Beetlejuice" first as this IS written for clarinet. When you've mastered that , maybe, just perhaps, you could then have a go at the FOTBB. Sorta like a 'stepping stone' one could say.

K i am working on my chromatic scales but i have another question. Is this song basically chromatic scales. Cuz when i look at it i admit the first 2 or 1 lines are chromatic scales but the others to me they dont seem like chromatic scales. So any thought on that?
