I'm curious if anyone as any suggestions for Eb barrels. I play Moennig barrels on Bb and A, but have only used the stock barrel for my R13 Eb (41.5mm).
The barrel seems to be about a mm too short for me. It feels OK and the overall sound is good, but I feel like the same enhancement of the moennig for Bb\A would be great for Eb. Any help in Eb tuning issues also would be a plus!
I generally prefer resonance and clarity over darkness or cover.
(In case you're wondering or need\want to know) My setup:
Bb\A: Moennig 65mm(A) and 66mm (Bb). Brad Behn Signiture -6 mouthpiece.
Eb: Stock barrel with a vintage Vandoren 5RV refaced to about 0.98mm and 36 length.

Hi Nathan,
Because the section of the Eb barrel that creates the bore is so short it it difficult to make much taper, but I do make my FOBES Eb barrels with a slight taper that I believe is an improvement over the standard Buffet barrels. My barrels are made from41mm to 44mm in half mm increments.

I have a "nifty" little Chadash barrel that works well on my Yamaha 681 effer. FWIW, my mpc is a vintage Selmer HS** on which I play cut-down Bb reeds.

Clark Fobes makes a great Eb barrel. It transformed my instrument from a good instrument to one that is fantastic. Tone is very consistent, even and full throughout the range. Intonation is great. They are a great choice.

Backun do a range of barrels in different materials, including a useful 'cutaway' model which enables Bb clarinet reeds to be used un-trimmed. I had one custom made in grenadilla to fit a Leblanc Concerto, as the top socket is non-standard, and it gave a noticeably fuller tone, particularly for the throat notes (and better on my instrument than the Fobes barrel). I now use an RC prestige, and although I've added a standard fit Backun cutaway barrel (cocobolo worked best this time) the difference is much more subtle. I've used the same Fobes mouthpiece on both instruments.
As ever, it's worth trying different setups if you can, as every combination of instrument, player and barrel is different!

I've tried your Bb\A barrels and found them to be very good, but ended up with the "great but not for me" conclusion as they were just a bit more covered than I like. I think on Eb it may not be an issue and may even be a helpful quality.

One that I do recommend that made a HUGE difference from just the stock barrel, was the Robert Scott Eb clarinet barrels. They're made of Delrin, but i felt everything of my instrument just speak evenly across every register and the tone became more velvety for an Eb. And the best thing is, they were only $59 at Muncy Winds. I would definitely give em a shot.

I have a Robert Scott Eb barrel, but it's much too short for my Bundy (40mm) and I would like to get a longer one. The one I have I bought on eBay and couldn't find anyone that carried them. Now I know where to look.

Backun's Barrels have space so that you can use a Bb reed on the Eb without cutting it off. I LOVE this idea.
I have a friend who sounds fantastic that had a custom Eb synthetic barrel made by Muncy for his Noblet Eb. You would think he was playing on the highest tier Eb clarinet available.
